Its well-planned, interconnected streets make it highly accessible for tourists. The most prominent structure in the square is the Cathedral. With its Gothic architectural style exuding elegance, its towering spire, reaching up to 63 meters, is one of Christchurch’s most iconic landmarks. It features a rose window made of rough-hewn stone and a bell tower housing thirteen bells—visitors are sure to enjoy their melodious chimes. The observation deck, located 36 meters up the spire, offers the best panoramic views of the city. Construction of this church began in 1864 but was delayed due to financial issues, taking a total of 40 years to complete.
