Ferrymead Heritage Park

Ferrymead Heritage Park is a museum located in Christchurch, situated near New Zealand’s first public railway. Established in the mid-1960s, it features an early 20th-century town and showcases various aspects of small-town life.

The museum's exhibits mainly consist of houses, theaters, schools, churches, a prison, railways, a post office, a printing press, a tobacco shop, a grocery store, a law firm, and more, offering insight into the daily life and culture of the time. The town also hosts several themed cultural museums, owned by individual societies, which open to visitors on weekends. These display tractors, engines, fire engines, airplanes, coal wagons, trams, miniature railways, model trains, radios, photographs, and more. On the park’s main road, there is a tea house that sells a variety of hot and cold food and drinks on weekends, sometimes including freshly brewed coffee.
