Auckland Botanic Gardens

The Auckland Botanic Gardens is located in the southern part of Auckland and opened in 1982. Covering an area of 64 hectares, it was established to educate people about the importance of plants to human survival and the environment, raise awareness about plant conservation, and showcase various types of plants formed under different climates.

The Auckland Botanic Gardens features over 10,000 colorful plants from around the world, transforming the gardens into a sea of flowers. The gardens are divided into themed sections based on plant types, including the New Zealand Native Plant Collection, Rose Garden, Shrub Collection, Gondwana Arboretum, Fruit and Vegetable Garden, Horticultural Display Garden, Camellia Collection, Palm Collection, and Urban Tree Collection. Additionally, conifers such as Douglas fir and Monterey pine are planted. Visitors can choose to explore areas that interest them most, and each section offers a unique and eye-opening experience.

The Auckland Botanic Gardens also houses a library, allowing visitors to not only immerse themselves in the world of plants but also explore the realm of knowledge. In recent years, the gardens have also become a venue for conferences, weddings, and gatherings. Outdoor book reading events are also frequently held here.
