The Auckland Civic Theatre is located on Queen Street in downtown Auckland. It first opened to the public in 1929 and was reopened in 1999 after renovation. The revamped theatre is magnificent and striking. As a classic heritage theatre, it can accommodate 2,378 people, making it the largest theatre in New Zealand.

The Auckland Civic Theatre is considered the most outstanding and grandiose theatre in Australasia, as well as the first purpose-built theatre in New Zealand. Its lighting design evokes a sense of sanctity in the auditorium while creating the illusion of gazing at twinkling stars on a clear night. It is also famous for its Indian-themed foyer, featuring a seated Buddha, twisted columns, and a domed ceiling. The auditorium is styled after a Moorish garden, complete with turrets, spires, and a tiled roof, exuding classic beauty.

On regular days, the Auckland Civic Theatre hosts a variety of operas, musicals, plays, and more, providing Auckland residents with leisure and entertainment spaces that enrich daily life.
