New Zealand Navigators Maritime Museum

The New Zealand Navigators Maritime Museum is a place full of stories, a place brimming with courage and ambition, a place for exploration and discovery, and a place that takes you on an awe-inspiring journey, constantly inspiring people to embrace the spirit of adventure. Situated at Hobson Wharf in Auckland, it is New Zealand's first maritime museum.

The museum aims to provide enjoyable and thrilling experiences of past and present sea voyages while also preserving New Zealand’s maritime heritage. During their voyages, navigators collected numerous natural history items related to maritime exploration. These collections reflect New Zealand’s seafaring history from its earliest Polynesian inhabitants to the present day, focusing on Polynesian and Māori vessels, European exploration, settlement and immigration, early coastal trade, whaling, modern maritime transport, maritime trade, as well as maritime art and handicrafts. The main collections include ships, navigational equipment, ship models, books, maps, and artworks, all of which bring New Zealand’s maritime history to life.

The New Zealand Navigators Maritime Museum is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, with the last admission at 4:00 PM. It is open year-round except on Christmas Day, and the entire visit can be completed in about two hours.
