An introduction to the Old Customs House tourist attraction – Overview: The Old Customs House is located opposite the Civic Building, right at the corner of Customs and Albert Streets. For over 80 years, this building has been the financial hub of Auckland. Designed in the French Renaissance architectural style, it was completed in 1889 and is one of the last remaining Victorian-era landmarks in the central business district. The building is open to visitors seven days a week and houses a cinema, craft and gift shops, restaurants, hostels, cafes, as well as stores selling books, wooden products, and woolen goods.
