International Finance Centre

The International Finance Centre is a renowned landmark of Hong Kong as a world-class financial hub. Located at 8 Finance Street, Central, Hong Kong Island, it faces Victoria Harbour. Designed in collaboration by the famed American architect César Pelli and Hong Kong architect Yim Sui-cheung, it boasts a total floor area of 436,000 square metres. It is now the headquarters of the Henderson Land Group and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.

The International Finance Centre is mainly divided into three parts: International Finance Centre Phase 1, International Finance Centre Phase 2, and the International Finance Centre Mall. Among them, International Finance Centre Phase 1 stands 210 metres tall and is an office building. It was the first completed part of the IFC, finished in 1998, with 38 floors above ground and 4 below, covering a floor area of 72,850 square metres. International Finance Centre Phase 2 is 415.8 metres tall, completed in 2003, with 88 floors above ground and 6 below, spanning a floor area of 185,805 square metres. Its exterior design is similar to IFC Phase 1, featuring glass curtain walls, and is adorned with crown-like and ivory-shaped decorations at the top, illuminated by spotlights at night.

The International Finance Centre Mall was completed in two phases, opening in 1999 and early 2004 respectively. The mall has four levels with a total area of 800,000 square feet, adjacent to the premium office towers of IFC Phase 1 and Phase 2, the world-class Four Seasons Hotel, and the Four Seasons Place serviced apartments. It houses nearly 200 renowned retail outlets with a diverse mix of tenants, including internationally acclaimed fashion brands, trendy accessories, beauty and skincare products, gifts, cinemas, and restaurants.

As a well-known landmark in Hong Kong, many internationally renowned films have been shot at the International Finance Centre. For instance, during its construction, it was used as the backdrop for some of the action scenes in the Hollywood movie Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. On the night of November 11 to the early hours of November 12, 2007, it was used as a filming location for the Hollywood movie Batman: The Dark Knight. In addition, the International Finance Centre frequently hosts various social events and exhibitions, attracting large numbers of visitors all year round.
