Hong Kong Lung Fu Shan Country Park

Lung Fu Shan Country Park was established on December 18, 1998, and is a country park located in the western part of Hong Kong Island. Covering an area of about 47 hectares, it is the smallest country park in Hong Kong. The park encompasses the slopes of Lung Fu Shan and the western mid-levels of High West above Harlech Road, mainly consisting of densely forested hillsides.

At the summit of Lung Fu Shan stands Pavilion No. 11, which offers views of both sides of Victoria Harbour. The “Pineapple Dam Abandoned Fort” within the park was built in 1903 as a military site but was damaged during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. It earned its name because it was abandoned and surrounded by pine trees. With numerous deserted barracks, the site attracts many enthusiasts of airsoft games.

The Lung Fu Shan Lookout is situated on the northwestern hillside of High West, within Site 2 of the Lung Fu Shan Country Park Picnic Area at the end of Harlech Road, built atop a former machine gun post on High West. From the lookout, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the western sea of Hong Kong Island, including Victoria Harbour to the west and the East Lamma Channel to the south. Visible landmarks include Wah Fu Estate, Lamma Island, Queen Mary Hospital, Peng Chau, Ap Lei Chau, Discovery Bay, Mount Davis, Green Island, Ma Wan, Tsing Yi, Tsing Yi Bridge, Kwai Tsing Container Terminals, Tai Mo Shan, Stonecutter’s Island, Lung Fu Shan, Beacon Hill, Lion Rock, and Fei Ngo Shan.
