Scenic View of Nanshan Xiaoquzi in Urumqi County

Xiaoquzi is situated in Gangu Township, about 50-plus kilometers southwest of Urumqi City, between Nanshan Juhuatai and Xiejia Gou. It is a well-known scenic spot and also the starting point of the Ethereal Trail, with an average altitude of around 2,200 meters. It neighbors the West Baiyanggou area of Nanshan.

This is a mid-mountain forest meadow belt approximately 6 kilometers long and about 500 meters wide. From April to October each year, the meadow is covered with wild chrysanthemums, filling the air with a fragrant aroma.

Geographically, the Jinquangou, Juhuataigou, and Zhigou valleys of Gangu Township, as well as the Xiaoquzigou and Xiejia Gou (Zhuanyangchang) valleys of Xiaoquzi Township, are all gullies formed from the Juhuatai–Xiaoquzi mountain range. They are arranged almost parallel to each other, spaced about 4–5 kilometers apart.
