Huairen Jianye Pagoda

The construction of the 300,000-mu ecological and economic forest project on the Western Hills of Huairen has transformed the once windswept, barren ancient battlefield into a vast expanse of lush green forests stretching for hundreds of li. To commemorate this immortal feat that benefits both the present and future generations, the Jianye Pagoda, funded by Zhonglu Coal Industry of Huairen and constructed by Shanxi Wutai Mountain Construction Engineering Company, began construction in May 2012 and was completed in May 2013.

The name "Jianye Pagoda" incorporates the meaning of building and pioneering. Its design prototype is the Songyue Temple Pagoda built during the Northern Wei Dynasty in Dengfeng County, Henan. The pagoda is entirely built of bricks, stands 58 meters tall, has a base diameter of 15.28 meters, and features a completely copper spire. The body of the pagoda houses 179 arched niches, each containing stone Buddha statues of varying sizes. Surrounding the pagoda are 11 black line engravings, each 5.3 meters high and 2.8 meters wide, depicting different scenic views, while 12 melon-ribbed columns symbolize the thriving and vibrant growth of the Western Hills garden.

The entire pagoda has well-proportioned tapering, gentle curves, and a robust, upright form, making it a rare classic masterpiece for posterity.
