Panda Mountain

The giant panda is regarded as a national treasure of the Chinese nation, symbolizing good fortune and prosperity. On the west side of the Daqing River lies a mountain with a distinctive shape that strikingly resembles a giant panda lying across the mountaintop. This natural wonder amazes visitors entering or leaving the county and is a rare scenic spectacle. Locals call it “Panda Mountain.”

Panda Mountain is located 2,000 meters west of Qinghe County’s urban area. The mountain sits on the western side of the road leading into and out of the city, facing Birch Park across the river, and stands at an elevation of 1,240 meters. Composed of granite, the mountain features rock formations that have been shaped by physical weathering into nearly rounded forms. The prominent “panda” on the mountaintop is 7–8 meters tall, covering an area of about 700 square meters with a circumference of around 30 meters. The panda is positioned facing north, with its head slightly tilted toward the southwest. It contrasts distinctly with the surrounding rock, with well-placed eyes and mouth, and its left paw slightly extended forward. The lifelike and endearing form appears as if the panda is waving to greet every visitor coming to tour Qinghe County. Panda Mountain has become a stunning natural attraction in the county.
