It is constructed in two tiers—the lower tier is made of stone, while the upper tier is a mix of earth and timber. The tower is built on a high slope at the Biedili Pass. In case of any emergency, once the beacon fire is lit, signals could be sent east to Wushi and west to Wuqu, enabling all three locations to communicate effectively. It is a beacon tower of great strategic importance.
