Akqi Toshigan River National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Akqi Toshigan River National Wetland Park spans four townships (or township-level areas)—Sumutash Township, Akqi Town, the Seed Farm, and Sepabaiyi Township—covering a planned area of 9,000 hectares (135,000 mu), of which wetland area accounts for 4,775.73 hectares, making up 51.7% of the total. The park is divided into five functional zones: conservation zone, ecological restoration zone, education and exhibition zone, rational use zone, and management service zone. Akqi County boasts abundant and diverse Toshigan River wetland resources, including three major wetland types—riverine wetlands, marsh wetlands, and artificial wetlands—and six wetland subtypes: permanent river wetlands, seasonal river wetlands, floodplain wetlands, shrub swamps, herbaceous marshes, and reservoir & pond wetlands. Once completed, the project will become a people’s, livelihood, and ecological civilization initiative that benefits both the present and future generations, preserving “eternal snow-capped mountains and green waters, with the Toshigan River flowing clear,” and creating a pristine Akqi of “blue waters and blue skies.”
