The Xinjiang Shufu Ethnic Musical Instruments Village is located in Qicun Village, Wukushake Township, Shufu County. National Highway 314 runs nearby, and it is about 7 kilometers from downtown Kashgar, which can be directly reached by city buses. Originally, there were 270 households with 487 people engaged in making ethnic musical instruments in the village. The instruments produced fall into 27 major categories and over 50 varieties, with a history of more than 150 years. Since planning and construction began in 1999, the village has established a vocational training base for students from the township’s secondary vocational school, staffed by five teachers who graduated from normal universities and 11 master artisans. Handmade instruments here include the satar, rawap, dutar, ajike, and wooden bowls. The village is divided into two sections: instrument workshops and an exhibition hall. In the workshops, visitors can observe the entire process of instrument-making, while the exhibition hall houses some of the world’s largest examples, such as a rawap measuring 3.93 meters in length and 0.46 meters in diameter, a dutar that is 4.7 meters long and 0.75 meters in diameter, and a satar that is 4.95 meters long — the latter is being prepared for a Guinness World Record application. The village has become a showcase for promoting ethnic culture and advancing the development of tourism in the county.
