King Phoenix Tree

In the village of Gulebag in Akhsalay Township, Moyu County, Hotan, Xinjiang, there stands an extremely ancient phoenix tree. The tree is about 30 meters tall, with a trunk diameter of 2.7 meters and a girth of 8.75 meters. Its canopy covers an area of 1.5 mu (approximately 0.1 hectare). Experts from the Institute of Botany at the Chinese Academy of Sciences have determined its age to be around 1,000 years.

The village of Gulebag in Akhsalay Township is located on an alluvial plain at the foot of the mountains, about 3 kilometers east of the Karakash River. With convenient water access, a network of trees weaves through the landscape like misty silk, creating picturesque scenery. This ancient tree stands majestically in the center of the village, adding immeasurable splendor. Despite being a thousand years old, it remains lush and leafy, with dense shade and vibrant life. People of the Islamic faith have long regarded it as a "sacred tree."
