Qing Dynasty Granary

The Qing Dynasty Granary is located at the southeastern corner of Ningbian Ancient City in Changji City, with a total construction area of approximately 650 square meters. According to historical records, the granary was first built in the 23rd year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1758), initially serving as a storage facility for grain and fodder for Qing soldiers. After the liberation, it was used by the People's Liberation Army to store military provisions, playing an important role in defending the nation's frontiers. In 1987, the Qing Dynasty Granary was designated as a “Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit” as part of Ningbian Ancient City. However, because the structure was made of earth and wood, the surviving granary had largely become a dangerous building, at risk of collapse at any time. In 2006 and 2007, Changji City carried out two consecutive years of dismantling and restoration work on the Qing Dynasty Granary and conducted repairs on the second phase of the granary's cultural relics body, while also accelerating the exhibition arrangement process. In 2007, Changji City successfully applied for the Qing Dynasty Granary and the Shilidadun Beacon Tower to be designated as Regional Cultural Relics Protection Units.
