Changji People's Park Changji People's Park is a public welfare institution. It serves as an important venue for citizens to visit, relax, entertain, and engage in science and cultural promotion. It is also a key component of the city’s service functions, disaster prevention and mitigation infrastructure, and green space system. Established in 1984, the park covers an area of 264,400 square meters, with a water area of 37,100 square meters and a green space area of 63,300 square meters, playing a positive role in improving the urban ecological environment. It is the largest comprehensive park in Changji Prefecture and the only remaining old-city scenic area preserved in the city to this day. The park currently has 66 staff members, including 45 on duty and 21 retired.

As a renowned tourist attraction in the urban area, People's Park tells the story of the past, present, and future of this fertile land to every visitor through its historic relics weathered by time, beautiful and pleasant garden scenery, distinctive ethnic customs, and vibrant modern atmosphere.

Located in the northeast corner of the urban area, People's Park covers an area of 396 mu. When it was established in 1984, through the joint efforts of the military and civilians of Changji City, large-scale renovations were carried out in the park, including the creation of a 15-meter-high artificial hill and a 26,240-square-meter artificial lake, which greatly enhanced the park’s scenery. In 2006, the municipal government placed great emphasis on the park’s construction and development, investing 1.5 million yuan to carry out major renovations, adding the new “Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor” scenic spot, planting 30,000 square meters of new lawns, and constructing a 2-kilometer-long stream. In 2007, the municipal government further increased investment to implement the second phase of the park’s renovation project, with an estimated investment of 1.9 million yuan to renovate the park’s front gate, dance hall, and peninsula. Once completed, the scenery within the park will become even more serene and picturesque, making this largest comprehensive park in the urban area a true ideal leisure and entertainment destination for people of all ethnic groups.

In its planning, People's Park skillfully integrates the ruins of the ancient city, features of classical gardens, and ethnic minority customs, interspersing them with uniquely themed amusement facilities. The entire park adopts a mixed layout style and is divided into several major areas: The front gate square serves as an entertainment and activity area that combines cultural performances and public welfare promotional activities. In the northern part of the park lies a quiet rest area consisting of an artificial hill, an artificial lake, lake embankments, a peninsula, pavilions, and tree-lined areas surrounding the lake. The southeast side features a children’s play area with entertainment options such as a national defense park, a youth playground, and a children’s city. The west side includes a leisure and vacation area with structures such as Mongolian yurts and “You Yi Cun” (Another Village). In the west and northeast corners of the park are two sites of the ancient city of Changji, which are protected as autonomous region-level cultural heritage sites. The park was rated as a national AA-level tourist attraction in 2003.
