Beiting Garden

Beiting Garden in Jimusaer, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is home to Xinjiang’s first Jurassic Park. The park highlights the historical and cultural features of Beiting and the Jurassic dinosaur era, combining modern culture, ethnic culture, and leisure entertainment.

Covering an area of 100,000 square meters, with a length of 400 meters from east to west and 250 meters from north to south, Beiting Garden has a green coverage rate of 66%. It consists of three parts: the Beiting Historical and Cultural Garden, the Modern Culture Garden, and the Jurassic Park, developed in three phases. From 2004 to 2005, Phase I of Beiting Garden was completed, designed by the Urumqi Construction Planning Research and Design Institute with an investment of 12 million yuan. The phase included a cultural square, relief walls, the Jiulian Hall, the Colorful Corridor, cultural pillars, and a musical fountain. In 2006, Phase II, designed by the Xinjiang Landscape Planning and Design Research Institute with an investment of 8 million yuan, was finished. It added a reconstructed ancient city wall, a bell tower, a restored map of the ancient Beiting City, the Cen Shen Pavilion, an ancient bridge, windmills, a coin-paved path, ancient lamps, sculptures of historical figures, an artificial lake, a white membrane structure, and an ice cream plaza. The Jurassic Park, designed by the Xinjiang Landscape Design Institute with an investment of 10 million yuan as part of the Phase III expansion, features lifelike dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and birds from the Jurassic era, as well as simulated ancient trees, petrified forests, rockeries, ancient river systems, and historical walking paths.

The overall design of Beiting Garden integrates modern concepts with ancient Jurassic culture and the history of Beiting, combining them with architecture, landscape, and functionality. It vividly showcases the rich interplay between regional culture and landscape, where the scenery reflects cultural depth. As Jimusaer County’s premier multi-functional cultural leisure destination, it embodies local cultural characteristics and combines leisure, entertainment, patriotic education, and historical heritage. It is one of the most culturally profound parks in Xinjiang and even across China, and will be included in the region’s tourism routes alongside attractions such as the Ancient Beiting City, the West Grand Temple, the Thousand Buddha Caves, the Wucaiwan Hot Springs, the Xinjiang Wild Horse Breeding Center, and the Cheshi Ancient Road.
