Jimsar County in Xinjiang is one of the birthplaces of Jurassic dinosaurs and the homeland of China’s dragons. Historical records indicate that between 1928 and 1931, Professor Yuan Fuli of China led the Sino-Swedish Northwestern Joint Expedition deep into the northern deserts of Jimsar and Qitai counties, where they discovered and collected 72 reptile fossils. In 1983, a team from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences organized an expedition to Xinjiang and excavated a dinosaur fossil in Tent Valley near the Shishugou petrified wood site in Jimsar County. Experts named it the "Suzhousaurus," a sauropod dinosaur belonging to the same family as the Mamenchisaurus. The fossil is currently preserved in the Xinjiang Geological Museum. On August 26, 2006, the Chinese Academy of Sciences unearthed a sauropod herbivorous dinosaur fossil measuring approximately 35 meters in length from Pit No. 1 in Dinosaur Valley, over 200 kilometers from Jimsar County town. This “No. 1 Dinosaur of Asia” stunned the nation.

Covering an area of 31,900 square meters, Jurassic Park features major attractions such as life-sized replicas of dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and birds from the Jurassic period; simulated ancient trees, petrified forests, rockeries, ancient river systems, and historical walking paths. The park’s realistic recreations of prehistoric creatures make visitors feel as though they’ve stepped back into the age of the Jurassic dinosaurs. Utilizing modern simulation techniques, the park vividly brings the dinosaur era to life, adding an ancient and mysterious dimension to the millennia-old history of the Beiting region.
