The Tengger Wetland Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Tengger Wetland Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Zhongwei City is located within the territory of Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Built around Zhongwei’s Tengger Lake, it is a wetland-type water conservancy scenic area, covering a planned area of 22 square kilometers.

The scenic area features abundant resources, profound culture, and convenient transportation, serving as a key node for the three provinces (regions) of Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, and Gansu. The southeastern edge of the Tengger Desert is rich in groundwater resources, which emerge at low-lying areas to form rare desert lake landscapes. Tengger Lake spans a vast area with varying elevations and rich layers. Due to its unique geological structure, the area presents a peculiar coexistence of deserts, wetlands, lakes, fish ponds, and Gobi landscapes, fostering remarkable biodiversity among flora and fauna. Stretching from the southwest to the northeast, an ancient-looking section of the Great Wall cuts across the scenic area, showcasing the former glory of this military stronghold. The distinctive geographical conditions and ecological environment have created a timeless wonder where nature and culture, humans and the environment, as well as water conservancy projects and mountain-water scenery, blend harmoniously.
