A winding, ribbon-like river surges ceaselessly through the deep mountain gorges. The canyon is dotted with glaciers, rugged rocks, lush trees, and abundant grass, creating a uniquely stunning landscape. This is the grand canyon located deep in the Qilian Mountains — the Heihe Grand Canyon in Qilian County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province.

With a total length of over 800 kilometers, the Heihe Grand Canyon has an average altitude of more than 4,200 meters, including 70 kilometers classified as a “no-man’s land.” The canyon contains around 800 glaciers, covering an area of over 300 square kilometers. The Heihe River, which runs through the canyon, is China’s second-largest inland river, flowing through Qinghai, Gansu, and Inner Mongolia, and is known as the “Mother River of the Hexi Corridor.” Thanks to its unique geographical conditions and climate, the Heihe Grand Canyon boasts extremely rich plateau flora and fauna, making it an ideal destination for adventure tourism.
