Ancient Egou City

Ancient Egou City is located in the town government seat of Egou, Qilian County. The city is 200 meters wide from east to west and 300 meters long from north to south. The remaining walls are 6 meters high and 6 meters wide. There is a battlement in the middle of the northern wall and at each of the four corners of the city. The city has three gates—east, north, and south—each 11 meters wide, all with barbicans. The "Xining Prefecture Records - Historical Sites" states: "(Ancient Egou City) is located 140 li west of Yong'an City and northwest of the Wei governance. It was built during the Yuan Dynasty, and remnants still remain today."

The ancient square city of Egou is located on the north side of the 18-kilometer point along the Egou–Babao Highway in Qilian County. The ancient square city of Egou lies 100 meters to its side. The city is trapezoidal in shape, 150 meters long from east to west, 120 meters wide in the middle, with remaining walls 5 meters high, built from rammed earth. Each of the north and south walls has five battlements, while the western wall has two, each battlement being 12 meters wide and 7 meters long. The southern gate is 5 meters wide and has a barbican. Inside, there are five architectural foundation sites, which are verified to have been built during the Song Dynasty.
