The Pines of Galle

The pristine forest of Galle Township, located about 30 kilometers southwest of the county town, is home to majestic pines and cypresses that come in various forms, staying lush and green all year long. With its emerald mountains and clear waters, the scenery here is serene and captivating. The pine, cypress, and birch forests on both sides of Chai Gully are especially vibrant and graceful, merging with the forested regions of Xiangyu Gully and Zhongku Gully, which lie against the mountains and alongside the streams, creating a harmonious and picturesque scene. The view of the pine waves is even more breathtaking after the rain, when clouds and mist envelop the area—vast and hazy—offering a uniquely refreshing and uplifting experience. A poem describes it as follows:

From afar, green hills drift in misty haze,

Streams flow forever through Galle’s wide space;

Winds stir the forest waves like dragons’ roar,

Ancient pines and cypresses greet the sky once more.
