The Green Towering Piled Stones

The Green Towering Piled Stones, located just north of the county town, less than a mile from the Yellow River, are called the Lesser Piled Stone Mountains or the Tangshu Mountains. The mountain range is steep and rugged, rising sharply and towering into the clouds. The entire mountainside looks as if it were an artificial rockery built from huge boulders—seemingly on the verge of collapse yet never falling. The Lesser Piled Stone Mountains stand majestically on both sides of the Yellow River canyon, exuding an awe-inspiring and magnificent presence. Many poets have been moved to excitedly proclaim: “The towering green piled stones are endlessly beautiful, and the sky turns even bluer after the rain clears.” At the foot of the Piled Stone Mountains lies the Green Wave Beach Oasis, holding up the land as the Yellow River flows gently eastward like a ribbon. Beneath the Red Earth Mountain, clusters of green trees and flowing streams embrace the Sala Farmstead—that is the picturesque Qingshui Bay. A poem:

Towering green peaks stretch a hundred zhang away,

Competing in height toward the ninth heaven’s sway;

Cliff-side stone treasures resemble scrolls unfurled,

While cranes and immortals still shuttle the world.

A poem of the Green Wave Beach Oasis:

Lush flowers and trees flourish on the wave-lapped shore,

Yet fail to veil the towering piled stones’ core;
