Former Revolutionary Site of the Red Army’s Western Route in Xunhua West Road

The Former Revolutionary Site of the Red Army’s Western Route in Xunhua is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

An important historical site from the modern era (1939–1946). Located in Hongguang Village, Chahan Dusi Township, Xunhua Salar Autonomous County, Qinghai Province. The memorial hall faces south and is situated to the north, measuring 46.1 meters in width from east to west and 44 meters in depth from north to south, covering an area of 2,030 square meters. It was funded and built by the Haidong Administrative Office of Qinghai Province in 1987. The courtyard is planted with 17 cypress trees. The gate features a simple concrete structure with a tile-faced gatehouse and is fitted with two iron-barred gates. Above the gate is a bronze plaque inscribed with “Western Route Red Army Memorial Hall.” About ten meters past the entrance stands the Western Route Red Army Monument, which has a concrete structure with a cement finish. It consists of a circular base with steps on all four sides, a square main body, and a pointed top adorned with an iron-made red star, reaching a height of 11 meters. Behind the monument is a simple 2.3-meter-high memorial stele for former scattered members of the Western Route Red Army, also made of concrete. The front of the stele is engraved with the story of the Red Army’s defeat in the Hexi Corridor Campaign and subsequent capture. Further back are three simple exhibition rooms constructed of concrete.
