Shouning Temple in Fanshi

Shouning Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Fanshi County.

Shouning Temple is located about 200 meters north of Nanyukou Village, Dongshan Township, Fanshi County. It faces south. The temple measures 30.95 meters from north to south and 20.45 meters from east to west, covering an area of 633 square meters. Its exact founding date is unknown, but the existing structures date back to the Qing Dynasty.

The temple features a single-courtyard layout, with only the main hall remaining on the central axis, flanked by side halls. The main hall is built on a stone foundation, which is 0.9 meters high. It is seven bays wide and four rafters deep, with a five-rafter front corridor structure, a single-eave flush gable roof, and bracket sets. The wooden columns are painted, and the hall's walls feature paintings. There are stone steles on the temple grounds, including one from the 12th year of the Zhizheng era of the Yuan Dynasty (1349), known as the Zongzhu Industry Stele, and another from the 35th year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1556).
