Site of the Pugezhai Siege Battle

The Site of the Pugezhai Siege Battle is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinzhou City and a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Pugezhai Siege Battle is located in Pugezhai Village, Yangpo Township, Xinfu District. In 1942, local soldiers and civilians responded to Mao Zedong’s call to “squeeze the enemy out,” laying siege to the Japanese invaders stationed in Pugezhai. After a period of arduous struggle, they finally drove the Japanese forces away. The site stretches approximately 1,000 meters from north to south and about 300 meters from east to west, covering a total area of 300,000 square meters. Remains of a Japanese artillery tower from that time can still be found on the site. On April 10, 1985, the former People’s Government of Xinzhou City (a county-level city at the time) designated it as a municipal-level key cultural relics protection unit.
