Guanshan Forest Park in Pingding integrates natural scenery, historic relics, and profound cultural roots. It lies 4 km southwest of Pingding County and is one of the scenic highlights of eastern Shanxi. The main peak of Guanshan Mountain resembles a traditional hat, hence its name. The area features beautiful landscapes and is home to Confucian, Taoist, and Buddhist cultural elements. Notably, the Chonggu Guanshan Academy, founded in the Yuan Dynasty, is renowned for its Confucian heritage. Prominent historical figures such as Lü Encheng, Vice Minister of the Central Secretariat during the Yuan Dynasty, and Qiao Yu, Ming Dynasty Minister of War, once studied here. The Ming–Qing period physician and painter Fu Shan also lived in seclusion at Guanshan Forest Park in Pingding. Modern female writer Shi Pingmei studied here in her childhood and wrote the novel Red Mane Horse, set against the backdrop of Guanshan.

The mountain features over 30 stone inscriptions from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Zifu Temple, the main structure in Guanshan Forest Park in Pingding, was built during the Jin Dynasty and houses numerous historical steles. Other preserved historic sites on the mountain include the Tuanlong Screen Wall, Huaiyin Academy Ruins, Chonggu Academy, Banzhou Pavilion, Yangzhi Pavilion, Stone Coffin Stone, Lüzu Cave, Wenchang Pavilion, and the ruins of the Waste Paper Cave.
