Yuxi Karst Cave

: The karst cave is located behind Longma Mountain on the northern side of Yuxi, about 30 kilometers from the city center. The cave passages are rugged, undulating, and clearly layered. The fresh air inside the cave is invigorating—you’d never guess you’re indoors, feeling instead as if you’ve been transported to a heavenly palace high above the clouds.

On the way to the cave, you’ll first pass by Hongqi Reservoir. Near the reservoir, there is a natural sour water well, hailed as “natural soda.” The water is grayish in color, with a taste that is a mix of sour, bitter, and astringent. When mixed with brown sugar, it becomes especially refreshing.

Transportation: There is no direct bus; you can hire a car in the city.
