Mojiang Hani Autonomous County is located in the southern part of Yunnan Province and the eastern part of Simao Prefecture, spanning longitude 101°08′ to 102°04′ east and latitude 22°51′ to 23°59′ north at the edge of the county seat. It borders Yuanjiang and Honghe counties to the east, faces Pu'er County across the Babi River to the west, neighbors Jiangcheng County to the south, connects to Xinping County to the north, and meets Lüchun County to the southeast and Zhenyuan County to the northwest. The county stretches 64 kilometers from east to west and 135 kilometers from north to south, covering a total area of 5,312 square kilometers. The county government is seated in Lianzhu Town, through which the Tropic of Cancer passes. The county is 350 kilometers from the provincial capital Kunming along the Kunluo Highway and 220 kilometers from Simao City, the seat of Simao Prefecture.
