Pu'er National Park Rhinoceros Flat Scenic Area is situated in the transitional zone between tropical and subtropical regions, boasting a forest coverage rate of 94.5% and preserving China’s largest and most intact South Asian tropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest. The highest elevation reaches 1,708 meters, while the lowest is 1,530 meters. The climate is governed by the Indian Ocean monsoon, exhibiting distinct South Asian tropical characteristics—large daily temperature variations, small annual temperature differences, an average annual temperature of 17.7°C, clearly defined dry and wet seasons throughout the year, an annual precipitation of 1,600 mm, and extremely high levels of negative air ions. It enjoys a pleasant climate with no severe summer heat or harsh winter cold. The Rhinoceros Flat Scenic Area is a comprehensive mountainous destination that integrates the four major themes of “mountain, forest, water, and humanity,” showcasing Yunnan’s rich animal resources along with the landscapes of northern and southern subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forests. With the overarching goal of achieving harmony between humans and nature, the scenic area innovates and breaks through traditional limitations in presenting wildlife biodiversity. Visitors can engage intimately with a variety of wild animals and plants within a natural environment dominated by ecology and supported by forests, fully satisfying modern travelers’ desires to connect with nature, seek hands-on experiences, and gain deeper insights. Key attractions include ten major sites: “Rhinoceros Retreat, Monkey Paradise, Fish Shadows Along the Stream, Alsophila Trail, Gibbon Peninsula, Osprey Play, Butterfly Valley, Traveling Red Pandas, Bird Playland, and Orchid Garden,” as well as ethnic song and dance performances.
