Huangnigou

Huangnigou is located at the northern foot of Bashan Mountain within the Fairy Cave Nature Reserve, about 60 kilometers from the county town. The cave opens wide like a giant mouth, with its ceiling sloping gradually downward until it merges with a pool below. The water in the pool churns vigorously and remains perpetually yellowish, as it is the emergence point of an underground river. After flowing horizontally for 50 meters, the pool’s water enters Shiliang River, a tributary of the Mei River, where the two waters remain distinctly separate. The pool is home to species such as fine-scaled fish, carp, and yellowfish.
