Dasha River Nature Reserve is located in the northern part of Daozhen, adjacent to Nanchuan and Wulong in Chongqing. The planned total area of Dasha River Nature Reserve is 26,990 hectares, including 12,184.9 hectares of forest land, 8,598.8 hectares of shrubland, and 8,810 square meters of Cathaya argyrophylla. The quantity and distribution area of Cathaya argyrophylla vegetation rank first in the country, and it is home to the largest single Cathaya argyrophylla tree — the "King of Cathaya." The forest coverage rate is as high as 77%. It hosts five species of national first-class key protected wild plants: Cathaya argyrophylla, Davidia involucrata, Davidia involucrata var. vilmoriniana, Taxus chinensis, and Taxus mairei, as well as 28 species of national second-class key protected plants. There are four species of national first-class key protected wild animals: the Francois' langur, forest musk deer, clouded leopard, and leopard, along with nine species of national second-class key protected wild animals. The ecological environment is excellent, offering great value for sightseeing and scientific research.
