The Qianling Park Wild Macaque Viewing Garden is part of the Sanlingwan scenic area in the park. Originally featuring Sino-Western architecture, including a conference hall and guesthouses, it was built in the 1930s. In 1985, the government funded renovations here, retaining only the original conference hall and adding corridors and pavilions with distinctive Chinese garden features for visitors to enjoy and rest.

In 1991, the park established the country’s only urban wild macaque viewing garden in this scenic area. On April 9, 1946, Chiang Kai-shek and his son met with General Zhang Xueliang, who was imprisoned in Xiaoxihu, Tongzi County, Guizhou, and stayed overnight here. After the liberation, the site was once used as the temporary office of the Guiyang Municipal People's Government. In 1957, when Qianling Park was established, this area was incorporated into the park’s management. After the macaque viewing garden was built, over a decade of unremitting efforts led to successful research work, and more than 400 wild macaques now play and forage for food among the corridors and pavilions, living leisurely alongside visitors. The enchanting natural charm seems to transport people back to nature, creating a rare and moving scene of harmony between humans and nature.
