Damaoyuan Cemetery (Third Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Era: Western Zhou to Tang Dynasty

Location: Between Shangdong Village and Hongbeigou, west of Jixian County

The cemetery lies along the edge of a loess ridge between Guantou Mountain to the south and the Qingshui River Valley. It covers a total area of approximately 3 square kilometers. Discovered in 1982, the site has yielded bronze artifacts such as gui (food vessels) and ding (tripod cauldrons), which are typical of the Western Zhou period. In the northern part of the cemetery, Shangdong Village, artifacts from the Shang Dynasty including bronze weapons and a small tomb have been found. The unearthed items include bronze axes, battle-axes, spoons with beast-head ring handles, and knives with bell-shaped pommels, all displaying Ordos-style characteristics.
