Kawaluo Ri Snow Mountain is the highest peak in Xinlong County, with an elevation of 5,992 meters. Located east of the Yalong River in Ribaxiang Township in the northern part of Xinlong County, it is one of the four sacred mountains of the local Tibetan people. In Tibetan, “Kawaluo Ri” means a mountain that remains covered in snow all year round. The mountain is composed of limestone, dolomite, red sandstone interbedded with marl, featuring undulating ridges and towering peaks, with modern glaciers developed across it. Its horn peaks and pyramidal summits stand densely, covered in snow all year round, presenting a spectacular sight. The main peak rises sharply into the sky, often shrouded in clouds in the early morning and evening. The mountain area boasts rich forest resources, including spruce, fir, pine, birch, alpine pine, and shrubbery, as well as wildlife such as argali, deer, river deer, and muntjac. It is also abundant in valuable medicinal herbs like cordyceps and Fritillaria. At the foot of the mountain lies Tangbo Monastery, and within the woods below the summit sits a scripture hall where monks conduct prayers.
