Panzhihua City in Sichuan Province is located at the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan, and was once an important node on the Tea Horse Road (a branch route). In the past, merchants gathered here, leaving a profound imprint on the local architectural and cultural traditions. The Wu Family Residence is a typical example reflecting this influence. It was first built during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty. As a residential building, the Wu Family Residence adopts a traditional courtyard layout, with surrounding structures encircling a central patio, creating a compact and rational design. The surrounding buildings feature gabled roofs covered with small blue tiles, sloping inward toward the courtyard, symbolizing “mountains facing the sky” and “all waters converging in the hall.” The patio contains elements such as water vats and flower stands, contributing to its serene and classic ambiance. The entire residence is symmetrically arranged along a central axis, with the main gate located in the center of the southern side. Counters are built on the eastern and western sides in front of the hall, reflecting the common layout feature of residences combined with shops along the Tea Horse Road. Although modest in size, the Wu Family Residence has a complete structure and distinctive features, and is especially valuable for its role as a witness to the cultural heritage of the Tea Horse Road.

Geli Ping Town: Geli Ping Town is located at the western end of Panzhihua City, bordering Daxing Township of Huaping County in Yunnan Province. Situated on the northern bank of the Jinsha River, it gets its name from a large flat area—Geli Ping—covering about 1.5 square kilometers within its territory. In the 1980s, it was known as Panzhihua’s “Little Hong Kong” due to its economic prosperity and vibrant cultural life. In 1994, it was placed under the jurisdiction of Xiqu District, becoming the district’s only township.
