Former Sites of the Red Fourth Front Army Headquarters

The former sites of the Red Fourth Front Army Headquarters are protected as cultural heritage sites in Sichuan Province.

The former sites of the Red Fourth Front Army Headquarters are well preserved. They consist of traditional quadrangle courtyard dwellings (in the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty), retaining their original appearance. The wall of the General Political Department still bears the Red Army slogan "The World Belongs to All," and nearby there is a "Red Army Well" whose water remains clear, sweet, and drinkable to this day.

According to current research, the former sites of the Red Fourth Front Army Headquarters and General Political Department in Chengjia Village, Renyi Township, are among the better-preserved command centers of the Red Fourth Front Army's military and political leadership.

From June 3 to 10, 1935, the First Front Army of the Red Army passed through Tianquan County, staying in the area for a total of eight days from entry to departure. During their advance into Tianquan, the First Front Army split into left, central, and right columns, advancing on Tianquan via four separate routes.

Capturing Tianquan marked the moment the Red Army truly escaped the perilous confines of the Dadu River Canyon.

Among the ten founding marshals of New China, eight—Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Lin Biao, Liu Bocheng, Xu Xiangqian, Nie Rongzhen, Ye Jianying, and Luo Ronghuan—passed through Luding Bridge and Tianquan during the Long March, then crossed Jiajin Mountain.
