Qiliba Tourist Scenic Area

Qiliba Tourist Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

“By the Moshui Lake, Home of Golden Fruits” — Qiliba is located in the northern part of Shimian County, along the middle and upper reaches of the Dadu River, 32 kilometers from the county seat. It lies at the junction of the Sichuan-Yunnan Western Route and the Sichuan-Tibet Southern Route, serving as the gateway to the Wanggangping Resort, the best vantage point for viewing Gongga Mountain, known as the “King of Sichuan Mountains.” Nestled against mountains and beside water, Qiliba boasts beautiful scenery. The area is home to 32 households and 91 residents, and was established as a post-disaster new village following the “4.20” Lushan earthquake.

Leveraging the local specialty brand of Huangguogan (yellow tangerines), Qiliba has vigorously developed eco-agricultural tourism and rural tourism, establishing an economic development model that integrates pastoral life, leisure holidays, sightseeing tourism, and science education. It now cultivates 600 acres of Huangguogan and is an important component of Shimian County’s “Hundred-Mile Golden Fruit Corridor” rural tourism belt, as well as a model new countryside demonstrating the integration of agriculture and tourism. After the “4.20” Lushan earthquake, to accelerate industrial recovery and reconstruction, Qiliba served as a pilot site for industrial restructuring. By abandoning traditional farming methods and accelerating the integration of agriculture and tourism, and with support from the Red Cross Society of China, the Hunan Provincial Red Cross Society, and the Sichuan Provincial Red Cross Society, Qiliba was the first to complete its new village construction and became the first post-disaster relocation village to be inhabited. This effectively revitalized the local industry and integrated agriculture with tourism, setting another exemplary model. It has been successively awarded titles such as “Sichuan Province Rural Tourism Demonstration Village,” “Fifty-One-Hundred-Thousand Environmentally Beautiful Demonstration Village,” and “Ya’an City Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism Demonstration Village.”

Qiliba features Tibetan-style dwellings as its distinctive preserved architecture. The exterior walls are treated with grooved patterns, coated with stone-textured paint, and decorated with circular patterns and wooden stakes, highlighting Tibetan characteristics. The wall colors harmonize with the yellow tangerines, making it an upgraded version of a new countryside. Major cultural attractions include the scenic area entrance square, modern agricultural sightseeing orchard, Tibetan-style dwellings, viewing platforms, and prayer sites.
