Wanggangping Scenic Area

Wanggangping Scenic Area is located to the north of Wajiao Township in Shimian County, Ya’an City, Sichuan Province, and to the east of the Dadu River. It is a three-tiered mid-mountain plateau formed by faulting during the geological formation of Mount Gongga. The entire scenic area spans an ecological protection control zone of 85 square kilometers, with a total planned area of 37 square kilometers. The highest elevation exceeds 3,000 meters. The scenic area boasts a wide range of resources, large scale, and strong complementarity. All viewing spots are uniquely captivating — from snow-capped mountains to grasslands, from cliffs to plateaus, from cloud waterfalls to rime ice, and from low to high altitudes. The scenery varies dramatically with the seasons, each season offering distinct and vivid landscapes. High-altitude mosses, alpine meadows, rhododendrons, red stones, arrow bamboo, and forests create stunning sights throughout. It can be described as an “Eden of Sichuan Mountains where one mountain showcases all four seasons, and every season is spectacular.” It is an ideal destination for leisure, vacation, sightseeing, photography, entertainment, and wellness, and is hailed as “a snowy mountain feast under the stars and a vacation paradise above the clouds.”
