Introduction

Paradise of the Buddhist Kingdom stands atop Danxia Peak of Lingyun Mountain, built along the mountain’s contours in the architectural style of Tang Dynasty palaces. Its steep stone steps rise like a celestial ladder into the clouds, resplendent and majestic. The main hall complex consists of front and rear courtyards. The central hall features a domed ceiling with a seated statue of Maitreya Buddha at its core, and the rear wall is adorned with a large colorful mural. The intricately carved beams and painted rafters vividly depict the grandeur of Maitreya’s Pure Land. Around the hall, more than 10 niches of Maitreya statues and 15 sets of relief carvings illustrating the birth and enlightenment of Maitreya are sculpted along the cliffs. These works are exquisitely shaped, masterfully carved, and depict lively scenes.
