The Shuimo Tibetan Village Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Wenchuan County is situated within Wenchuan County and is supported by the Panda Ecotourism Area, Shuimo Ancient Town, and the Shuixiang Tibetan Village Water Conservancy Project. It is categorized as a natural river-lake type water conservancy scenic area. With a total area of 276.44 square kilometers, including 2.94 square kilometers of water area, the scenic zone harmoniously integrates with the national 5A-level Wenchuan Tourism Area. The region is embraced by rolling mountains, boasts picturesque lakes and mountain scenery, lush vegetation, and a vibrant blend of Tibetan, Han, and Qiang cultures. The ecotourism area offers breathtaking landscapes, while Shuimo Ancient Town exudes unique charm, together painting a harmonious scene of “pristine rivers and mountains, fragrant flowers amid birdsong in the woods — an endless ink-wash painting of natural beauty.” The scenic area neighbors the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve, where the natural ecology remains well-preserved. It is home to the world’s largest population of the living fossil plant Davidia involucrata, along with over 2,000 rare plant species such as Dracaena cochinchinensis, nanmu, yew, and Cathaya argyrophylla. Boasting a superior ecological environment, rich cultural heritage, and well-established infrastructure and reception facilities, the scenic area holds promising development potential. It is currently recognized as a national 4A-level tourist attraction.

Shuimo Tibetan Village is located in Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, approximately 78 kilometers from Chengdu. The Shouxi River runs through several towns along its course. From the uniquely ethnic Jiarong Tibetan villages to the culturally blended Shuimo Ancient Town, the people living here are peaceful, optimistic, and resilient, preserving their land and traditional culture. The distinctive ethnic charm creates a variety of highlights for rural tourism.
