Shuzheng Waterfall

From the valley entrance, pass Devil’s Rock and go through the Shuzheng Lakes, then walk another two or three li uphill. Travelers will soon hear the thunderous roar of water, deafening and overwhelming, with misty spray hitting their faces. As they focus their gaze, they’ll see a waterfall about 50 meters wide and over 20 meters high, surging forth from an ancient grove. On the face of the falls, several trees block and divert parts of the flow. This waterfall, emerging and disappearing among cliffs and woods, is Shuzheng Waterfall.

This extraordinary waterfall spectacle is indeed enough to amaze even the most well-traveled visitors. The snow-white cascading waters contrast sharply with the rugged, ancient trees—movement and stillness in vivid juxtaposition, yet together forming a harmonious natural painting. Some describe the wondrous beauty of Shuzheng Waterfall as follows: one sees the verdant, twisted trunks of ancient trees half-immersed in the torrent, buffeted by the foamy rush of water, resembling nymphs with flowing tresses and bare forms, joyfully bathing and playing in the sacred waters. The magical scenery of nature can sometimes make one feel as if they are in Eden itself.
