Wolong Sea sits at an altitude of 2,215 meters and has a depth of 22 meters. Legend has it that in ancient times, the Black Dragon from the nearby Heishui River would only bring rain to the people of Jiuzhaigou after they made offerings for ninety-nine days each year. The White Dragon from the Bailong River, sympathetic to the plight of the locals, tried to divert water from the Bailong River to Jiuzhaigou but was obstructed by the Black Dragon. The two dragons fought fiercely, and the exhausted White Dragon sank into the lake. The God of Ten Thousand Mountains came to subdue the Black Dragon, but the White Dragon no longer had the strength to return to the Bailong River. Over time, it transformed into a yellow dragon lying forever at the bottom of the lake. To commemorate it, locals named this lake Wolong Sea. Surrounded by colorful flowers, grasses, and trees, Wolong Sea is lush green in spring and summer. When autumn winds blow, the shores are painted in fall hues, with red leaves and green trees reflected in the shimmering waters and mountain scenery—a breathtaking sight.
