Twin Dragons Lake

Twin Dragons Lake is located above Reed Lake and below the Sparkle Lake Waterfall Cluster. It gets its name from the two submerged, chain-like white calcium deposits in the lake that resemble dragons bound in captivity. Legend has it that in ancient times, two evil dragons frequently brought hail, rain, and snow disasters to Jiuzhaigou, causing great suffering to the local Tibetan people. They were later subdued by King Gesar, who chained them in the lake with iron fetters. In reality, the lake features two milky-white travertine ridges lying underwater, vividly resembling two coiled dragons hidden beneath the surface, appearing as if they are about to wriggle free, gaze around with vitality, and at any moment, soar into the sky.
