Fairy Pool

Fairy Pool is located within Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area in Sichuan Province. Its main attractions are massive colorful pools and smaller edge dams on either side. After descending through about one kilometer of pristine forest from “Lotus Terrace Reflecting Colors,” at an altitude of 3,030 meters, three consecutive large colorful pools appear. Each pool spans over ten acres, almost covering the entire valley floor. The upper pool is called “Big Lake,” the middle one is known as “Green Sea,” and the lower one is named “Big Sea.” Together, they are collectively referred to as “Fairy Pool.” Beside Fairy Pool, there are clusters of relatively small edge dams. These dams are vibrant in color, mostly white and light yellow. Among them, the travertine deposits formed around tree roots and trunks resemble agates, corals, and pearls. They are pure in texture and exquisitely shaped, resembling natural works of art.
