General Yu Peilun Memorial Hall

The General Yu Peilun Memorial Hall is a cultural tourism attraction.

The General Yu Memorial Temple is located at No. 19 Zhongyang Road, Neijiang City. General Yu, also known as Yu Peilun (1886–1911), courtesy name Yunji, was a native of Neijiang, Sichuan. He was one of the 72 martyrs of Huanghuagang. While studying in Japan, Yu joined the Tongmenghui. In 1909, after returning to China, he participated in an assassination attempt against the Viceroy of Liangjiang, Duanfang, in Hankou, and a plot to kill Regent Zai Feng in Beijing. On April 27, 1911, during the Guangzhou Uprising, he fought bravely but was eventually captured after running out of ammunition and was executed heroically at the age of 26. After the success of the Xinhai Revolution, Sun Yat-sen posthumously awarded Yu the title of General and ordered the construction of a memorial temple in his honor. The temple consists of three buildings, built on a foundation about 3 meters above street level. Entering through the gate, visitors climb 12 stone steps to a central courtyard, with the main hall serving as the memorial hall dedicated to Martyr Yu Peilun. On the 70th anniversary of the Xinhai Revolution, the Neijiang Municipal People’s Government erected a monument in People's Park.

Inside Neijiang People's Park, solemnly standing amidst lush greenery, are the “General Yu Peilun Memorial Hall” and the “General Yu Peilun Monument,” covering an area of 4,000 square meters. General Yu Peilun (1885–1911, courtesy name Yunji, one of the 72 martyrs of Huanghuagang) was posthumously honored as General by a decree issued by Provisional President Sun Yat-sen in 1912, in recognition of his foundational contributions to establishing the Republic of China. Stone steps in front of the hall feature an inscription by Dr. Sun Yat-sen: "His noble spirit lives on forever."

Truly: In youth, with fervent poetic rage, he charged first with bombs, his heroic deeds shining bright. The great general fought valiantly, his name now immortal throughout the land.

Bus routes: Take bus nos. 203, 103, 202, 118, 101, or 201, get off at People's Park Station, and walk to the General Yu Peilun Memorial Hall.
