Lexion Peninsula Tourist Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Ancient towers soar above, a peerless scenic gem of Sanyuan; Han’an shines bright, the foremost peak of the Ten-Li Sweet City. A 700-kilometer scroll of poetic landscapes, a 2,000-year saga of cultural history—nestled along the Tuojiang River and in the heart of the Sweet City, Lexion Peninsula boasts unique geographical traits and exceptionally rich and distinctive historical culture and tourism resources, making it a cultural, ecological, regional, and entertainment landmark of southern Sichuan. The core scenic area spans 2.2 square kilometers and serves as an ecological cultural tourism destination integrating sightseeing, cultural experiences, leisure, and wellness.

Lexion Peninsula Tourist Area is located on the beautiful and fertile banks of the Tuojiang River, approximately two kilometers from the city center. It lies 172 kilometers west of Chengdu and 169 kilometers east of Chongqing, adjacent to Sanyuan High-Speed Railway Station within Chengdu’s half-hour tourism circle. The core area covers 2.2 square kilometers and follows a “one core, one axis, four zones” layout—starting from the visitor center, it unfolds along the Bashu ancient post road “Leshan” that stretches through the Sanyuan mountain range, connecting surrounding cultural sightseeing zones, premium flora and fauna viewing areas, themed amusement zones, and riverside wetland leisure areas. Major attractions include the Taxian Characteristic Town, Sanyuan Pagoda, Dashiqi Happy World Theme Park, and the Tuojiang Right Bank Cultural and Ecological Belt of Lexion Peninsula.

Originally built during the Tang Dynasty, the Sanyuan Pagoda collapsed in the late Ming Dynasty and was rebuilt during the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty. Its name carries the auspicious meaning of “passing all three levels of the imperial examinations in a single attempt” and stands as a symbolic cultural monument of Neijiang spanning a thousand years. Constructed primarily of large blue bricks, the pagoda is octagonal in shape with a square stone base. The ground floor features a circular stone archway on the front, while the upper levels are adorned with windows. A spiral staircase of 140 stone steps leads to the top. The pagoda is coated in white lime, resembling a structure built of jade, and its grand form can be admired from dozens of li away.

The Sweet City Impression Exhibition Hall is both a cultural sightseeing attraction and a red education base for patriotism actively developed in our district. Spanning an exhibition area of 1,000 square meters, it consists of three major sections: the Preparatory Hall, History Chapter, and Development Chapter. Following a chronological narrative, it showcases the past, present, and future of the Central District of Neijiang City, highlighting its historical culture, calligraphy and painting culture, sugar culture, culinary culture, and the tremendous achievements of its rapid development in recent years.

Taxian Park serves as a natural landscape axis that carries forward the city’s traditional culture, connects the old and new urban areas, reshapes the mountain-water pattern, and functions as an urban green lung.

The Tashan Style Town draws design inspiration from the folk culture and ancient architecture of southern Sichuan. Leveraging elements such as folk culture, historical relics, intangible cultural heritage, traditional handicraft workshops, and ancient architectural complexes, it has created a cohesive architectural area rich in Neijiang’s cultural character. The town features special festive events, folk handicraft making, hands-on experiences at traditional workshops, commercial streets, and culinary culture, fully showcasing the unique “Sweet City charm.” It serves as an immersive cultural tourism and commercial district integrating culture, entertainment, business, shopping, food, leisure, and travel.

Daqian Pavilion is one of the highest points in the scenic area. From here, visitors can overlook the beautiful river cityscape from on high or gaze into the lush forested secrets below. The pavilion was built in honor of the renowned painter and calligrapher Zhang Daqian. A native of Neijiang, Sichuan, Zhang was a master of Chinese splashed-ink painting and calligraphy, acclaimed by the Western art world as the “Brush of the Orient” and also known as “the artist who copied more world-famous paintings than anyone else.” Together with his elder brother Zhang Shanzi, Zhang Daqian founded the “Dashantang School,” becoming one of the 20th century’s most legendary figures in Chinese ink painting, especially renowned for his landscape works. His style combined meticulous brushwork with freehand expression and skillfully blended heavy colors with ink washes. Notably, his innovations in splashed ink and splashed color techniques pioneered a new artistic style. Given that his poetry, calligraphy, and painting were held in equal esteem as those of Qi Baishi and Pu Xinyu, he was collectively referred to as “Southern Zhang, Northern Qi” and “Southern Zhang, Northern Pu.”

The Daqian Happy World Theme Park is located in Lexian Town and covers an area of approximately 400 mu. Developed by Guiyang Xinjin Amusement Co., Ltd. in the South New District, it’s positioned as “the largest and most distinctive theme park in southern Sichuan.” The project will be built in three phases. So far, it has completed over 35 amusement facilities and performance venues, including an 88-meter-tall Ferris wheel, a six-loop roller coaster, a 50-meter-tall Space Shot ride, China’s largest haunted house, as well as landscaping, sculptures, and other features. It is a large-scale amusement park integrating “children’s entertainment, parent-child interaction, and thrilling experiences.”
