Yingcheng Ancient Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Neolithic Age, Shang Dynasty, Han Dynasty

Yingcheng Ancient Site is located in Chengzigong Village, Yangli Town, Laicheng District, Laiwu City, Shandong Province, with its history spanning from the Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty. The prehistoric and Shang-Zhou period cultural layers of this site are mainly distributed in the northern half, while during the peak periods of the Han Dynasty, the site extended east and north to the banks of the Yingwen River, south to the west of Dazeng Village, and west to the line of Dasaozhadi, covering an area of over two million square meters. The site features clear functional zoning, divided into residential areas, metallurgical casting areas, burial grounds, and more. As the birthplace of the Ying-Qin people, the site has yielded a rich array of relics, including stone tools, jade artifacts, bone tools, bronze items, ironware, as well as various types of pottery such as black pottery. Even today, a large number of Han Dynasty pottery specimens can still be found on the surface. In May 2013, the site was listed by the State Council as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Yangli Subdistrict: Yangli Town is located on the central plains of Shandong Province and is a modern economic powerhouse where ancient and modern civilizations converge. It is said to be the hometown of Yang Gu, the Grand General of the Western Jin Dynasty’s southern campaign, hence the name “Yangli.” During the Qin Dynasty, the county seat of Ying County was once located here (now Chengzigong Village). Recent expert research suggests that it was the ancestral home of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, and plans are underway to establish a Qin Shi Huang Ancestral Homeland Park. The total area of Yangli Town is 70.9 square kilometers, comprising 52 villages and a population of 60,000. In 2000, the total rural economic income of the town reached 630 million yuan, with an average per capita annual net income of 3,500 yuan for farmers.
