Yanduizi Site

The Yanduizi Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Sichuan Province.

The Yanduizi Site is situated on the first-level terrace on the east bank of Baiyu River, about 700 meters southwest of Xilin Village, Xinglong Town, Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. It stretches from the northwest to the southeast, is approximately 1,000 meters long and 200–500 meters wide, covering a total area of about 250,000 square meters. It is recognized as a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit in Sichuan Province. The Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and local cultural authorities in Guanghan have conducted multiple archaeological surveys here. Artifacts collected include pottery specimens identical in form and dating to those typical of the Sanxingdui Site, such as high-handled dou (food vessels), small flat-bottomed jars, and bird-head handled utensils. In 2001, archaeological drilling was conducted, revealing cultural layers up to 1–1.2 meters thick, as well as extensive areas of red fired earth deposits. Based on these findings, the cultural nature of the Yanduizi Site is consistent with that of the famous Sanxingdui Site, marking it as an important ancient Shu culture site from the Shang and Zhou periods. In December 2002, it was designated as a sixth-batch provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit by the Sichuan Provincial Government. However, since no formal archaeological excavations have been carried out at the Yanduizi Site historically, many questions remain regarding its unique cultural traits and its relationship with the Sanxingdui Site — all of which await further research and confirmation.

Protected Area: East to Tiantai Gully, south to the north side of Luojiayuan Courtyard, west to 200 meters east of Guangjin Highway, and north to 100 meters south of Tianxing Avenue.

Construction Control Zone: An additional 100-meter buffer beyond the protected area.

Xinglong Town: A town under the administration of Guanghan City. It was reorganized as a commune in 1958, reinstated as a township in 1981, and upgraded to a town in 1994. Located in the northern part of the city, it is 12 kilometers from downtown Guanghan. Covering an area of 34 square kilometers and home to a population of 27,000, it is traversed by both the Guanghan-Jinlun Highway. The town administers 12 village committees — Zhulin, Fanchi, Shuangsha, Dongsheng, Dongchan, Pilu, Gualin, Wuhuang, Xilin, Tiantai, Zhaizi, and Yongsheng — along with one town neighborhood committee.
